M11 maintenance to start

Essential maintenance works will begin on the M11 near Bishops Stortford on Monday 28 April.

The works will take place on a 3.3km section of the motorway between Junction 8 and a point 350 metres south of the Stansted Road Bridge at Elsenham.

The works will include laying new quiet surface material, replacing the safety barrier and installing a concrete barrier in the central reservation.

A 24-hour contraflow will be in place while the work is carried out. The northbound entry slip road onto the M11 at Junction 8 will also be reduced to one lane. A 50mph speed limit will be in place for the safety of drivers and road workers.

Drivers are advised to plan and leave extra time for their journeys while the work is taking place.

The scheme is expected to be completed by mid-July.
