Love poll

Having been directly involved in the election campaign for the past several weeks, I agreed wholeheartedly with the editor's Comment, 'Get out today and cast your vote', (NCE last week).

The NCE 500 was also asked that week about voting intentions and how I would have rejoiced if these 500 voters had been in my own county council division. A 100% turnout giving the Liberal Democrats 33%, Labour 29%, Conservative 23%, other 15%.

My own declaration gave a 66% turnout, but in the proportions Conservative 28.2%, Labour 25.3%, Lib Dem 24.3%, Independent 22.2%.

Thank you to the engineers in politics for trying to raise the profile of civil engineering.

Eric Jaquin (TM), Liberal Democrat Candidate, Skipton East Division, 46 Princes Drive, Skipton, N Yorks, BD23 1HL
