London Underground invites bidders for specialists framework

London Underground has advertised its latest framework for specialist trade contractors and suppliers, which could run for up to eight years.

The contract is being managed by SWIP, an internal division of London Underground, which acts as principal contractor and works directly with tier 3 and tier 4 suppliers.

London Underground believes SWIP will enable it to remove a layer of overhead – main contractors – and drive better value out of its construction supply chain.

The framework is being split into nine lots, each divided into three value bands:

  1. Up to £300,000
  2. £300,000-£2,000,000
  3. Over £2m

Bidders can express an interest in no more than three lots and no more than one value band in each lot.

The nine lots are:

  1. Civils
  2. Building works
  3. Mechanical
  4. Electrical
  5. Site Support Services
  6. Fire
  7. Communications
  8. Cleaning
  9. General Design and Consulting Services

The framework appointments will be for an initial five years with the option of extending by up to a further three.

The deadline for expressions of interest is 22 December 2014.

The process will be managed online the CompeteFor e-procurement system.
