London Tube and bus fares will rise

London Tube and bus fares will rise above the rate of inflation for the next three years to help repay £3bn of borrowing, London mayor Ken Livingstone said this week.

The hike is expected to raise £80M from buses and £45M from the Tube. Transport secretary Alistair Darling gave the go ahead for the borrowing in July, which is to be used to fund upgrades on the East London Line and Docklands Light Railway.
