Let HS1 inspire you

If ever there was a project that demonstrated the power of engineering, it is High Speed 1 (HS1).
The Channel Tunnel Rail Link, as it was known during its nine-year construction, allows Eurostar trains to reach speeds of up to 300km per hour, meaning it now takes just two hours and 15 minutes to travel from London to Paris. Only civil engineering made such a feat possible.

Come 2009, domestic services from Kent to London will run along HS1, cutting the commute from Ashford to London from just over an hour down to just over half an hour. Civil engineering equips you with the skills necessary to change the lives of millions, not just those of one or two people.
