Lessons from the tsunami

ICE'S Maritime Board and the Society for Earthquake & Civil Engineering Dynamics (SECED) are holding a half day meeting about the lessons learned and the engineers' response to the Boxing Day tsunami disaster.

ICE vice president Professor John Burland will chair the 7 February event. This will be followed by an evening meeting with presentations by ICE Maritime Board chairman Greg Haigh and SECED chairman Ziggy Lubkowski.

Contact marta. dziedzicki@ice. org.uk or ring 020 7665 2239 NCE's one day conference on the consequences of the tsunami disaster will be held at One Great George Street on 14 March. Profits will go to RedR to help its programmes in the region.

ICE and Thomas Telford will provide free conference facilities and NCE and its suppliers will also provide free services. The day will help government, aid agencies, professionals, institutions and industry identify a strategy for the region.
