Less is more

Letters

There was a predictable range of reactions (NCE 8 December) to the nuclear question. Mine is that any dispassionate assessment of future prospects must include consideration of the nuclear option.

What I fear is that the government has already made up its mind to go nuclear as an easy fix, which will not necessitate - in the short term at least - any change in our profl igate habits.

The only energy option whose effectiveness and benefit is assured is to use less of it. We know that ultimately we will have to do it; the sooner we start the better.
