Lendlease staff to get 'wellbeing leave'

Lendlease Europe is encouraging employees to take at least one day off every three to four months for their wellbeing.

Officially called wellbeing leave, the policy is part of the company’s commitment to be a caring employer.

Employees are to use the days to focus on physical and mental health and thereby reduce the amount of sick leave. There is no formal limit to the amount of wellbeing leave a staff member can take.

Lendlease Europe head of HR Lisa White said: “Wellbeing Leave is a proactive investment in the health and wellbeing of our employees, and acknowledges the importance of a balanced work-family life. A healthier, happier workforce is naturally a more productive and engaged one – and less likely to take regular sick leave.

“There is a strong business case for us to take the health and wellbeing of our employees seriously. As we develop this leave initiative, we will be able to address employee needs or hold workplace initiatives on the health issues that matter most to our people.”

Other industry measures to reduce stress in the workplace include a stress reduction workshop held by ICE earlier this year.
