This is the moment two people narrowly escaped death as severe flooding swept away a bridge in Cuba.

The video shows the couple attempting to cross the bridge before it collapses into the Palmarito reservoir.

Incredibly the pair manage to turn and run as the bridge comes crashing down.

Storm Alberto continues to hit Cuba with over 50mm of water falling in the last 24 hours.

More than 60,000 people have been left without electricity and water has been cut off in certain areas.

The national highway has also had to be closed after the reservoir burst its banks.

So far Storm Alberto has claimed the lives of four people in Cuba.
