Balfour Beatty, Atkins and TSO have all won places on Network Rail’s £1.5bn Central Track Alliance contract.
The three contractors have been named as the preferred bidders for the contract, which is set to run for and initial five years with an option to extend to 10 years.
Balfour Beatty has won an 80% share in the 10-year alliance which will be responsible for the development, design and delivery of track renewals and crossings, as well as associated infrastructure work across the London North West, London North East and East Midland routes. Atkins has a 10% share and French contractor TSO has a 10% share.

The full contract award is expected in the second quarter of 2019 with work due to commence later this year.
It is the latest appointment for Network Rail’s revamped alliance contracts. In January, Colas and Aecom were named on the alliance covering the south of England, while upgrades in Scotland will be delivered by a JV between Arup, Arcadis and Babcock Rail.
