The Gallery | A vision for Stockport station

A masterplan to rejuvenate Stockport station has been created by engineering consultants WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff, architects BDP and economic advisers Ekosgen.

Stockport Council revealed the vision for the Greater Manchester transport hub.

It includes redeveloped concourses; better access to platforms via a new footbridge; direct links with car parks; and improvements to an existing subway.

Stockport Station is used by more than 3.5M passengers every year.

Work will now begin to attract the funding to turn the redevelopment vision into a reality.

Councillor Martin Candler said: “Stockport deserves a station it can be proud of, so I am pleased that we are able to launch our vision for this area.”
