Suspended slabs for Welsh retail project

Foundation contractor Keller is installing more than 2,400, 350mm diameter continuous flight auger (CFA) piles to depths of 19m for a new retail development in Prestatyn, Wales, being built by Marshall Construction.

The high number of piles being installed for the 1.76ha development is due to the use of suspended floor slabs. Keller is constructing 900mm diameter float-finished pile heads on the floor slab piles to tight tolerances. Work
on the £1.1M piling contract is on track for completion later this month.
