Partial bridge collapse disrupts Nottingham-London line

Barrow bridge collapse

A bridge over the Nottingham to London St Pancras line at Barrow upon Soar has partially collapsed.

Network Rail has been working overnight to clear debris after the section of bridge collapsed onto the track.

The bridge at Barrow upon Soar is not expected to reopen today (2 August). There are no trains running on the line beyond Leicester.

“Owing to a road bridge collapse at Barrow Upon Soar, train services between Leicester and Loughborough will be disrupted today (2nd August),” said a Network Rail spokesperson. ”This will affect journeys on the London St Pancras/Nottingham/Leicester and the Leicester/Lincoln/Grimsby routes. We are working to clear the track as quickly as possible and reopen the line, however passengers are advised to check before they travel and allow extra time for their journeys.”
