New Civil Engineer shortlisted for top journalism awards

New Civil Engineer has been shortlisted for the non-weekly Magazine of the Year award at the Annual Journalism Awards.

Technical reporter Katherine Smale has also been shortlisted for News Reporter of the Year for her on-the-ground coverage of the Polcevera Viaduct collapse, the Florida International University pedestrian bridge collapse and her on-going exclusive coverage of the High Speed 2 project.

The awards take place on November 29, with New Civil Engineer optimistic about reclaiming the magazine of the year title won in 2016/17.

New Civil Engineer editor Mark Hansford said: “It is great to be shortlisted for such a prestigious award.

“The last 12 months have been very exciting for New Civil Engineer, with a range of exclusive and in-depth special reports from bridge collapses in Italy and the US to delays to Crossrail in the UK.”

He added: “Our daily news coverage has also exploded over the last year, with record pageviews recorded online.”
