Landmark grass roof completed in Sussex

4Delivery — a joint venture of Costain, MWH and Veolia Water — has completed the construction of one of Europe’s largest grass roofs, at Southern Water’s new wastewater treatment works at Peacehaven, Sussex.

The 18,000m² grass roof is designed to blend in with the surrounding South Downs and is part of Southern Water’s £300M environmental improvement scheme in Sussex. Once complete, the wastewater treatment works will treat 95M.l of wastewater daily.

The project also includes underground tunnelling, the construction of a new sea outfall and two new pumping stations, and will be completed by March 2013.
