For over 40 years New Civil Engineer has been at the heart of the infrastructure construction industry, delivering news, in-depth analysis and features from all over the world.

Now it is your chance to be a part of the magic as New Civil Engineer is looking for a News Editor to bolster its digital-first editorial team.

This role is pivotal to New Civil Engineer delivering the most essential and insightful stories in a dynamic environment that requires quick fire reactions and decision-making.

It is a hugely exciting time to be joining the growing New Civil Engineer editorial team – we have recently relaunched our website, revamped our app, have great plans to grow our digital content and increase the digital portfolio to include long form and make greater use of our well-subscribed to social media. We have also recently made the bold transition to working in a truly digital-first way and are adapting to the mobile-first appetite of our subscribers.

Hugely important to us is that you will also be able to think creatively to help make our digital content lively and inviting while ensuring that New Civil Engineer retains its reputation for being insightful, useful and adventurous.

You will also have a hunger for measuring the success of our new and existing digital content – be it online, in the app, long form, video, words or images. You will be well established in the classic skills of journalism as well as new forms of digital journalism. Ideally you will have great analytics skills already, or be able to demonstrate an appetite for quick learning in this area.

As well as generating news and analysis you will also work on features and special supplements.

The role involves a great deal of autonomy as well as working as part of a vibrant and collaborative team. You will also build and manage a new news team to ensure we get the best out of all our content.

You will have a recognised journalism qualification and bring experience on a news-led publication as well as a keenness to get involved in all aspects of New Civil Engineer’s editorial production. You will also need to be prepared to travel internationally and have a clean UK driving license.

In return we offer a competitive salary, good benefits and, more importantly, a role on a truly market leading brand that represents a fantastically exciting industry.
