High speed joint venture selects design team

HS2 High Speed Rail

The joint venture of Acciona, John Sisk and Lagan Construction Group (ASL) has named its design partners to support future projects, including its bid for civils work on High Speed 2.

The design team comprises Acciona Engineering, RPS, Coffey Geotechnics and Hewson Consulting.

ASL director Wayne Metcalfe said: “We are delighted to confirm our infrastructure design and technical support team. Everyone at ASL wanted the best engineers, scientists and specialists on the project as early as possible to raise the quality of our work to the next level. With completely integrated design you learn from experience quickly and drive excellence and efficiencies simultaneously.”

Acciona Engineering managing director Luis Baz added: “Our key lesson of the past 25 years working on high speed rail is that engineering design has to be integrated from concept stage throughout the project in order to harness the best ideas, save costs and keep time.”

Last month, it was announced that ASL is one of nine teams currently in the running for up to £11.8bn of civils work on the High Speed 2 project.
