Four consultants win water contracts

Two teams are to share £120M of water consultancy work over the next five years.

Scottish Water appointed Atkins/RPS and MWH/Mott MacDonald to provide technical advice during its six year asset management programme.

That will include maintenance and improvement work to existing assets such as pipes, pumping stations and water treatment works up to 2021. There is an option for the client to extend the deals to 2027.

Scottish Water director of strategic customer service planning Simon Parsons said: “The new investment programme will help support vital employment in the Scottish economy while enabling Scottish Water to build on the significant improvements made to water and waste water services in recent years.

“This will ensure our customers continue to receive fresh, clean drinking water, while at the same time benefiting from one of the best value water and waste water services in the UK.”

At a New Civil Engineer round table discussion in London last year, influential clients, contractors and consultants from across the water industry spoke candidly about AMP 6.
