Metro Newcastle 2by3

Five firms have been chosen for work on the £350M upgrade of the Tyne and Wear metro.

Local passenger transport body Nexus appointed the companies to a four-year technical and commercial consultancy services framework.

They will compete in mini competitions for work on the upgrade programme – which features new tracks, power lines, revamped stations and refurbished trains.

The selected firms are:

  • WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff
  • Capita Property & Infrastructure
  • Ove Arup & Partners International
  • Arcadis Consulting
  • Aecom

The metro links Newcastle, Sunderland, Gateshead and other parts of the region.
