Crossrail demolition progess at Tottenham Court Road

The demolition of the Astoria Theatre on London’s Tottenham Court Road is progressing well, as these new images show.

A new station will be built at Tottenham Court Road to increase capacity on the underground, and a new Crossrail station will eventually be built underneath Soho.

The works are being carried out under provisions made in the Crossrail Act.

Contractors McGee are carrying out the demolition work on behalf of Transport for London and Crossrail.

These pictures have been taken at intervals of approximately two weeks, with the last picture taken just a week ago.

Also released today is the first image of what the new Tottenham Court Road station will look like, once the work is complete.
