Crossrail awards second round of enabling contracts

Crossrail has awarded the second round of enabling works for the £15.9bn scheme for portals at Royal Oak and Pudding Mill, and demolition works at Bond Street and Tottenham Court Road.

The following winners have been appointed:

  • Keltbray Limited: Package C201 – Royal Oak Portal Taxi Facility Demolition
  • McGee Group Limited: Package C207 – Demolition works for Crossrail Bond Street Station
  • McGee Group Limited: Package C208 – Demolition works for Crossrail Tottenham Court Road Station
  • Costain Skanska JV: Package C248 – Pudding Mill Lane Portal

Crossrail’s head of Procurement Martin Rowark said: “These early enabling works contracts are vital to the safe and efficient construction of the subsequent station buildings and other structures. The contracts are significant and complex in their own right and we are pleased to have awarded them on schedule.”

The first round of enabling works contracts were awarded last year in 17 packages. These included Crossrail’s most visible works to date - the demolition of the Astoria Theatre and associated works at Tottenham Court Road, and several utility diversions in the Soho area.
