Carillion boss joins engineering firm's board

Offshore operations and maintenance wood group

Carillion group chief executive Richard Howson has been appointed as a non-executive director of engineering firm Wood Group.

The Aberdeen-based John Wood Group specialises in the energy market and has already announced the acquisition of two firms this month.

The statement from Carillion to the Stock Exchange said Howson will be a member of the nomination and the safety, assurance and business ethics committee.

Wood Group chairman Ian Marchant said: “I am delighted to welcome Richard to the Board. His extensive experience as chief executive of an international contracting business will further strengthen the Board and provide valuable support and guidance to the Group’s Executive leadership team. Keeping our people safe is the Group’s top priority and the knowledge that Richard brings from the construction and civil engineering sectors will give valuable insight to the Safety, Assurance and Business Ethics Committee, which he will join after appointment.”
