Last concrete dam to be built in Britain

The Maentwrog concrete gravity dam, completed exactly 10 years ago, looks like being the last concrete dam to be built in Britain. According to the latest issue (vol. 146 no.4) of the ICE Civil Engineering journal, increasing social and environmental concerns and shortage of suitable sites means that the UK's prolific period of concrete dam building is finally over.
