Landslip repairs at Crewkerne underway

Repairs to a landslip at Crewkerne in Somerset have got underway after the incident on Saturday resulted in all rail lines into the south west of the UK being closed.

Rail services through Crewkerne to Exeter are now operating at a reduced line speed following work on the collapsed embankment yesterday.

Network Rail has said that the Bridgewater to Exeter line remains closed due to flooding but completion of engineering work on the Whiteball Tunnel has enable the Taunton to Exeter line to reopen.

Repairs at Dawlish are also progressing with a row of stone filled shipping containers now in place to create a breakwater and sprayed concrete now applied to the washed out area.
