Laing wins Tottenham Court Road Crossrail station contract

Crossrail is to award the contract for the Western Ticket Hall at Tottenham Court Road station to Laing Construction, it has revealed.

Laing beat off competition from the Bam Nuttall/Ferrovial/Kier joint venture, the Dragados/John Sisk joint venture and Lend Lease Construction. The contract value has previously been given a range of between £100M and £250M but previous Crossrail contracts have typically come in well under.

Tottenham Court Road Crossrail station will be directly connected to the neighbouring Tube station allowing passengers to interchange between Crossrail and London Underground services.

The award, in line with European procurement rules, is subject to a 10-day standstill period.

Following completion of the works, a major over-site development will be constructed above the Crossrail station.

When it opens Crossrail will link the West End to Canary Wharf in 12 minutes, Stratford in 13 minutes and Heathrow in less than 30 minutes.
