Lafarge Tarmac and Owen Pugh Group join forces for Morpeth Northern Bypass project

Owen Pugh Contracts has awarded Lafarge Tarmac a £2.5M deal to supply 180,000t of construction aggregates that will be used in the earthworks for the £30M Morpeth Northern bypass.

Owen Pugh Contracts is working for main contractor Carillion and has the project’s £4.3M earthworks subcontract.

Meanwhile, Lafarge Tarmac has contracted the haulage division of Owen Pugh Group, called Owen Pugh & Co, to transport materials between its quarry in Howick, Northumberland, to the project site north of Morpeth in a £820,000 deal.

Owen Pugh & Co commercial manager Chris Mason said: “The project, which is in addition to the main earthworks scheme being undertaken by Owen Pugh Contracts, is progressing well as a result of a lengthy pre-planning process and at this stage we’re well positioned to complete the work ahead of schedule.”
