Knotweed clearance job awarded

LEYDEN KIRBY Associates has won a contract to banish Japanese knotweed from the site of the £23.2M St Matthew Academy, under construction in Lewisham, south London.

The 10 day remediation contract, awarded by Gleeson Building and Buro Four Project Services, will enable construction work to resume without threat of crosscontamination to other parts of the site.

Development on the 10,000m2 site forms part of the Department for Education and Skills' programme to create 200 new academies by 2010.
