Judges draw up Awards shortlist

Civils awards

JUDGING FOR NCE's Civils Award begins this week, when CIRIA commercial director Judy Payne and MacRobert Award winner Ian Liddell of Buro Happold join NCE technical editor Dave Parker to consider the 22 entries from exhibitors at the show.

The judges will be looking for a combination of technological innovation, good engineering and significant savings in construction cost and time. Entries which demonstrate significant environmental benefits or a contribution to sustainable construction will be particularly favoured.

To be considered for the award, entries must have been used on a construction site. Both new products and techniques and the innovative use of existing technologies are eligible.

Product entries received so far range from a modular access chamber system to a quieter piling hammer, Kevlar reinforcement for concrete and 3-D automatic control for motor graders.

The winners will be announced on 22 May at Civils.
