Joint venture launches new deep water geotechnical business

Royal IHC has announced that it has formed a new business with Tompkins UK to enter the deep and ultra-deep water geotechnical survey and ground investigation market.

The new business TI Geoservices, which will be based in Darlington, has been created to serve the oil and gas sectors and will initially provide cone penetration testing and gravity coring services.

According to IHC, the joint venture combines its engineering and advanced system design and development capabilities with Tompkins’ experience in the offshore, subsea and geotechnical contracting fields.

Remote seabed drilling services are expected to be added to TI’s capabilities in the fourth quarter of 2015.
