Joanna Lumley is a heaven-sent opportunity...

Letters to the editor

If the 21 October edition of NCE had been on newsagents' shelves, sales would possibly have doubled. Miss Lumley is a household name, instantly recognised, intelligent and articulate.

Her declared 'enormous interest in architecture and engineering of every kind' represents a heaven-sent opportunity for the profession to raise its profile with the Great British Public.

It's time for the ICE to approach the media with a view to producing a documentary - perhaps following Miss Lumley's campaign for the Princess Diana Memorial Bridge or possibly a larger project - the winner of the British Construction Industry Award (major project category) for instance?

Miss Lumley would make a very credible presenter and her very presence would ensure an audience.
