Consulting engineer JMP has been commissioned by Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire county councils to study the feasibility of improving rail passenger facilities on the Erewash Valley line, between Nottingham and Sheffield. It will also look at introducing passenger services to a freight branch of the parallel Robin Hood line. The contract is part of a drive to introduce a 'super network' of improved local rail services across the Greater Nottingham.
