Jeremy Watson to be new IET president

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has announced that Professor Jeremy Watson will be its next President.

Watson is Professor of Engineering Systems and Vice-Dean in the Faculty of Engineering Sciences at University College London. He is also chief scientist and engineer at BRE. He will start the job in October. Previously, he was chief scientific advisor for the Department of Communities and Local Government and Arup’s global research director.

Other appointments to the IET include Mike Carr who becomes deputy president. He was formerly BT’s chief science officer.

Energy expert Andy Bevington and NATS senior project safety manager Virginia Hodge both become IET Vice Presidents.
