JCB chief predicts growth in UK market this year

JCB chief executive Alan Blake has predicted more growth for the UK-based construction equipment manufacturer over the next 12 months following a successful year in 2011.

Speaking at the European launch of its latest equipment range in Spain last week, Blake said: “The global market for construction equipment continued to recover in 2011, up 18% on the year before, and I expect more growth in 2012.”

He added that, while the global market grew by 18%, JCB’s turnover increased by 30%, fuelled by continued growth in the BRIC countries and Eastern Europe.

“The pace of growth in the BRIC countries may have slowed a little, but it’s still growing and has offset uncertainty in the Euro-zone,” said Blake.
