I spend most of my working life worrying about the structural integrity of ageing steel jackets in foreign countries. I do not want to spend the rest of my time worrying about the 'civil' integrity of ageing tweed jackets in the Home Counties.

How can the original ballot be justified now, when it is clear that the membership was misled?
