Repairs to worn out half joints on Wetherby's Wharfe River Bridge have required a unique jacking solution. The central span of the prestressed concrete bridge had to be lifted 2m clear of the joints. Contractor AE Yates called in jacking specialist Mabey Support Systems, whose solution was to fix a series of 32m long universal trusses to the top of the bridge deck, supported at either end by the cantilever spans of the existing bridge.
