Is paint job over the top?

Having been involved in a number of aesthetic reviews for bridge schemes, I must confess to being amused by such this outrageous and yet, flamboyant paint job.

The paint job creates an eye-catching structure and perhaps also provides a deterrent to graffiti artists.

I wonder whether it will reduce or increase the number of bridge impact collisions?

The bridge is in Paisley, close to the St James interchange on the M8, and it carries the Glasgow to Greenock railway line.
