Iraq's Mesopotamian marshland project

A project to restore Iraq's Mesopotamian marshland is being launched by US based non-governmental organisation the Iraq Foundation. The marshland, an area of lakes, wetlands and mudflats, historically covered over 20,000km 2. It was home to the Ma'dan tribe, which has been largely eradicated in the last couple of decades. A feasibility study is being carried out.
