Insulting decision

As a retired Member, I greatly resent the suggestion from the Council that retired Members are being 'bankrolled' by being given 'free' Membership after 50 years on the roll.

The ICE is, I understand, unique among major engineering institutions in that it does not universally give free membership when Corporate Members retire. I feel it is an insult to all retired Members to suggest as Professor Fleming does, that older Members should individually go cap in hand to the Benevolent Fund if they wish to stay in the Institution.
