Institutions mark M1 half century

A group of the original engineers who built the M1 celebrated its 50th anniversary last week. A plaque was unveiled by ICE senior vice president Peter Hansford and Institution of Highways and Transportation (IHT) president Chris Jackson, and Bedford Civil Engineering Society president Brian Corley.

Hansford said the plaque “recognised the achievement of civil engineers with vision”. The plaque was co-funded by the ICE, the IHT and Bedford Civil Engineering Society.
