Institution of Structural Engineers appoints new CEO

Martin Powell was announced as the new chief executive of the Institution of Structural Engineers today.

Powell is currently the chief executive of the Concrete Society

Powell started his career with Pioneer International Limited on graduation, then joined Redland (subsequently acquired by Lafarge) where he was responsible for multi-product and multi-site operations with a turnover in excess of £20M/a.

IStructE President Sarah Buck said "Martin is an engaging leader who has taken the Concrete Society from strength to strength. Our present Chief Executive, Keith Eaton, has achieved tremendous change over the last 9 years and Martin will build on that firm foundation. Martin is a man with excellent communication skills which will be essential in raising the profile of structural engineering."
