Industry apathetic towards students

Letters

In view of the industry's skill crisis, I am very disappointed at the lack of the industry interest in providing work experience to students.

I am a third year student of civil and environmental engineering on an MEng course, having successfully completed a 'year in industry' in my gap year.

I have been applying to large contractors and government agencies for any type of civil engineering work experience for this summer. Not a flicker of interest so far from 20 odd applications. I wonder if I am unique.
