Embattled airports operator BAA is on a potential collision course with its unions, after it announced plans to close its final-salary pension scheme to new members. The owner of seven UK airports, including Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted, said it planned to make the move from 1 December and stressed: "This decision does not affect the pensions of existing employees and all other terms and conditions are unaffected." The first signs that Britain's long-running housing boom could be over have begun to appear, with prices across England and Wales falling last month for the first time in nearly two years. Five interest rate rises in the past year have made it increasingly difficult for first-time buyers to get on to the housing ladder, according to a report published today by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors - The Guardian
