In line for Stonecutters Bridge

Costain is also part of one of three international consortia understood still to be in the running to build Hong Kong's massive Stonecutters Bridge.

The contractor has teamed up with China Harbour and the JFE Corporation to bid for the project, which will have the world's longest main span for a cable stay structure.

The Costain/China Harbour/JFE Corporation joint venture tender is understood to have passed technical and qualitative assessment last week.

The contract is expected to be awarded next month.
