The Treasury has created an investment agency, UK Capital, to take over the running of the private finance initiative. The agency could be responsible for investing as much as £1.2bn a year. It is to be headed by Adrian Montague, chief executive of the original Treasury PFI taskforce, and will operate independently of the Government.
