In Brief Railtrack

Railtrack has awarded the £140M five-year maintenance contract for the Preston area to GTRM, the Carillion/Alstom joint venture. The package includes the maintenance of 915km of track, 840 sets of points and 1,400 signals. Railtrack hopes to achieve a 'collaborative' approach through IMC2000 - due to come into operation in April.
