IN BRIEF: Ballast Nedham


Losses in southern England hit results reported by Dutch contractor Ballast Nedham last week. The contractor reported UK pre-tax losses of £20M last year, compared with a small £625,000 profit in 2000. It said that it was cutting jobs to reverse the situation. UK turnover fell from £393M to £364M.

Ballast Nedam reported a group pre-tax loss of £14.3M last year compared with a profit of £30M in 2000.

Turnover was up at £1.45bn, compared with £1.3bn.
