Impromtu cyclists raise £2,000 for RedR

ICE news

THIRTY CIVIL engineers, quantity surveyors and business analysts have raised over £2,000 for RedR by taking part in a Glasgow to Edinburgh cycle challenge.

The 80km journey followed the Forth & Clyde and Union canal towpaths, taking in the Falkirk Wheel and Scott Russell aqueduct in Edinburgh.

Held with only three weeks' notice and without any corporate sponsorship, challenge organiser and ICE council member, Brian Pope hopes to make it an annual event.

'We hope that the success of the cycle challenge will encourage similar groups to start up their own events around the country. We've already had lots of interest for the event in 2004, ' said Pope.
