HUSH, HUSH: Winner of the Graduates & Students Papers Competition 2001 is Andrew Duncan Milne of the Southern Association. ICE president Joe Dwyer presented the award to Milne (he of the patriotic tie) for his revealing study on the limitations of low noise surfacing.

This won him the coveted award, a medal to be presented on 6 November plus £150 in cash and a further £150 worth of Thomas Telford book tokens. The other finalists were Chris Twigg, Leroy Gardner, Jeffrey Yee and Sarah Cunliffe.
