THE INSTITUTION has issued an apology to all Associate members attempting to upgrade to full membership following the introduction of dual corporate membership last year.
Of 3,000 AMICE members eligible, only 188 have so far successfully transferred to MICE.
Many more potential MICE converts have been hampered by a slow response from Great George Street, admitted new professional development director Jon Pritchard.
Pritchard has also accepted criticism from student members, on hold ups to their applications, and urged those who has not yet received a membership pack to write to him personally.
Pritchard joined the ICE four months ago following the resignation of Mike Bruton last April.
Since then he has spent his time examining the Institution's internal processes and devising a better way forward.
Now firmly in command, Pritchard is ready to take flack for the ICE's failings. 'Over the last six months the response to member enquiries has not been what it should be, and for this we apologise.
'We have now taken steps to improve, and if there are complaints now, I will personally take action, ' Pritchard said.
