Former ICE President collects CBE

Geoff French OBE

Former ICE President, Geoff French was presented with his CBE at a special ceremony at Windsor Castle last week.

French was awarded with the CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list in June for services to civil engineering over his 50 year career.

He was ICE President in 2013-2014 having become a vice president in 2008. He was also president of international consulting engineers body FIDIC from 2011 to 2013 and was Association for Consultancy & Engineering chair in 2009. French joined Scott Wilson in 1968 as a civil engineering graduate. He was appointed chairman in 2002 and oversaw the consultant’s Stock Market flotation in March 2006.

He has spent time working in Botswana, China, Hong Kong, India, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and Vietnam. His focus was mainly on transport planning, design and management.
